Our Mission
The mission of the Bureau of Correctional Enterprises is to enhance public safety by providing jobs and training for persons in our care.
Why BCE?
The Bureau of Correctional Enterprises (BCE) provides persons in our care (PIOC) with opportunities to work, learn new skills, and earn money to help pay their court-ordered financial obligations. Working on BCE teams help PIOC better prepare for success while in DOC facilities and when they return to their communities.
Working with BCE saves taxpayers money. We provide a low price, one-stop shop with statewide personalized service from knowledgeable sales staff. Revenues are used to keep BCE teams working and continue providing these opportunities to those in our care.
Secondly, working with BCE helps successful reintegration of offenders upon release. Numerous studies focusing on the cycle of recidivism argue that stable employment is a strong indicator of preventing criminal activity, specifically for those who have been incarcerated. With this in mind, our Transition Program is designed to help PIOC workers capitalize on work experience and skills acquired during incarceration and to aid in employment readiness for post-incarceration.
