Our Mission
The mission of the Bureau of Correctional Enterprises is to enhance public safety by providing jobs and training to our workers, who develop marketable skills and experience leading to long-term success while in prison and in the community upon re-entry.
Why BCE?
The Bureau of Correctional Enterprises (BCE) saves taxpayers money. We provide a low price, one-stop shop with statewide personalized service from knowledgeable sales staff. Revenues are used to keep BCE teams working and continue providing opportunities to those in our care.
We sell many products and services, but our greatest offering is opportunity. We provide DOC residents opportunities to work, learn new skills, and earn money to help pay their court-ordered financial obligations. These opportunities help our workers better prepare for success while in DOC facilities and when they return to their communities.
BCE aids in successful reintegration of offenders upon release. Numerous studies focusing on the cycle of recidivism argue that stable employment is a strong indicator of preventing criminal activity. Our Transition Program is designed to help our workers capitalize on the experiences and skills acquired during their time in prison and to aid in employment readiness for when they return to their communities.
